Perch Place Consulting

Mission and Vision

Our mission is to assist young children, families, school districts, community-based organizations, and businesses with impactful early learning programs, trainings, events, sharing of resources, and grant lifecycle pursuits. Our vision is to increase the number of individuals, groups, and communities served each year. We want to validate that positive outcomes can be achieved in the face of physical health, trauma, mental illness, educational, and/or basic need challenges.

Our Story

Perch Place, LLC, is a new consulting management firm that was founded by Robin M. Robinson in 2022 as a female owned and operated venture. With her previous combined 12-year career as a small business owner and 28-year career in human services, Robin’s experience and knowledge lent well to her inspiration to develop her own business focused specifically on young children’s challenges to learning and success in life.

Robin is a lifelong advocate for children and families. She has worked at the local, state, and federal levels with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), where she provided direct service to abused/neglected children and program management in Herkimer and Oneida Counties Family Courts, then as the Executive Director of NYSCASA, and as an Educational Advocate with National CASA in Washington, D.C. When combining this experience with 10-years working at United Way of the Mohawk Valley as the Director of Community Impact and Administrator of Initiatives and Grants, Robin had the opportunity and privilege to collaborate with many service providers, coalitions, faith-based organizations, and government agencies to learn, understand the root causes, and create solutions to many of the unmet needs and issues faced by different community populations.

During this time, in collaboration with the Oneida County Youth Services Council, OHM BOCES, and the Literacy Coalition, Robin learned through research and data collected from 25 local school districts that more than 20% of the children entering school were not prepared. Challenges, such as: lack of social emotional skills, lack of language development, no potty training, poverty, lack of parental knowledge, were all contributing factors that negatively impacted the children’s inability to learn in the classroom. In 2016, to answer these issues with positive solutions, the Ready For Kindergarten (R4K) Program was developed and implemented, launching in three school districts and then expanding into ten districts.

Partnering once again with OHM BOCES for a contract to support the R4K efforts, and encouragement from United Way MV, Robin was able to embrace her vision of business ownership and launch Perch Place, LLC.
